New SEAT Leon 2024 Tech, Engines & Interior
The SEAT Leon undergoes technical and technological upgrades. It adds new engines – including a new 1.5 TSI engine and a new generation of e-Hybrid plug-in hybrid engine – and integrates improved digitalisation into the cockpit for both the 5-door and Sportstourer versions.
“The SEAT Leon remains essential in the brand’s strategy, carving out a successful path, allowing it to embrace new technologies”, said Wayne Griffiths, CEO of SEAT. “The expanded engine line-up, including a new generation e-HYBRID and digital technologies, continues its evolving journey”.
The New SEAT Leon 2024 PHEV, Mild Hybrid & Petrol Hatchbacks
The SEAT Leon is a crucial part of SEAT's strategy, offering a variety of powertrains with four different technologies: TSI (petrol), eTSI (mild hybrid), TDI (diesel) and e-HYBRID (plug-in hybrid). There are seven powertrain options available, ranging from 115PS (85kW) to 204PS (150kW). The Leon now comes exclusively with four-cylinder engines: either 1.5 TSI (petrol, mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid) or 2.0 TDI (diesel).
- TSI (Petrol): The entry-level engine for the SEAT Leon is the new 1.5 TSI, which replaces the previous 1.0 TSI. It delivers 115PS (85kW) and 220Nm of torque, linked to a 6-speed manual transmission. CO2 emissions are 120-132g/km and it consumes 5.3-5.8 litres of fuel per 100km, according to the official WLTP test cycle.
- eTSI (Mild Hybrid): The Leon is also available with two mild hybrid options (eTSI). These include a 1.5-litre engine producing either 115PS (85kW) or 150PS (110kW), both exclusively paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission. The 48V mild-hybrid technology enhances efficiency and comfort.
- TDI (Diesel) For diesel enthusiasts, the SEAT Leon features a 2.0 TDI engine. While specific power outputs and details for the TDI variant are not provided, it remains a robust option for those seeking diesel efficiency and performance.
- e-HYBRID (Plug-in Hybrid) The new generation of e-HYBRID engines offers a plug-in hybrid option delivering 204PS (150kW) and 350Nm of torque. This setup combines a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine (150PS/110kW), an electric motor (115PS/85kW), and a 19.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It provides an electric-only range of more than 100km. Charging options include up to 50kW on DC fast chargers and 11kW at home using an AC wallbox.
New Infotainment System & Enhanced Interior Design
Inside, the SEAT Leon refocuses digitalisation with a new and improved human-machine interface (HMI), implemented in the digital cockpit (10.25”) behind the steering wheel as well as in the larger 10.4” standard infotainment system (previously 8.25”) or the optional 12.9” infotainment system, both with back-lit slider. When mobile smart devices need a charge, the SEAT Leon now offers wireless fast-charging capabilities of up to 15W with refrigerated technology.
New Matrix LED Headlamps
Surprise! The SEAT Leon also receives illuminating technological upgrades in the exterior, with new optional matrix LED headlamps available for the first time in SEAT’s hatchback.
Designed and Produced in Barcelona
Designed, developed, and produced in Barcelona at the brand’s Martorell facilities, the SEAT Leon will enter production this month (May 2024).
