The SEAT Ibiza has always been a car that’s appealed to a younger demographic offering an emotional, sporty personality, but the demand has been growing for a vehicle that offers that little bit more, and now SEAT delivers.
The SEAT Ibiza takes another leap forward, offering a sportier and more powerful experience with the introduction of a 1.5 litre TSI unit linked to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. The new option produces 150PS (110kW) of power and 250Nm of torque, supporting its already established personality but adding an additional dose of dynamism.
The new TSI unit will boost the SEAT Ibiza’s performance, giving it a top speed of 219km/h, but perhaps more usefully in the real world, greater acceleration. The Ibiza will be able to reach 100km/h from a standing start in only 8.2 seconds – a practical improvement when darting through urban and suburban areas as well as adding an extra dash of enjoyability.
SEAT increases the Ibiza’s appeal with a sportier 1.5 litre TSI engine with 7-speed DSG.
But the engine is only part of the equation. The new iteration is exclusively available with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission, a response to the changing needs of the market where automatic gearboxes are becoming more of a requirement.
The DSG technology makes shifting smoother and faster, providing a more dynamic experience behind the steering wheel, while also increasing comfort levels for all vehicle occupants.
The mix of engine and transmission makes for not only a more performance focused vehicle, but also balances it strongly with the necessity to be efficient. The SEAT Ibiza 1.5 TSI 150 PS DSG uses between 5.6 and 6.4 litres/100km based on the official WLTP test cycle. CO2 emissions are 128-147 g/km.
Since its launch in 1984, the SEAT Ibiza has helped shape the segment and became an iconic vehicle in SEAT’s line-up and one of the company’s key pillars. Since its inception it has sold 5.9 million units, and the new variant will help push this number even higher.
The SEAT Ibiza is designed, developed and produced in Barcelona, at the brand’s Martorell facilities, where the assembling of the latest and current SEAT Ibiza started in 2017.
