In order to promote the strategic transformation of the Spanish automotive industry and its entire value chain, the Government of Spain approved in 2021 the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) for the Electric and Connected Vehicle (VEC). That same year, Future: Fast Forward was announced, a project led by Volkswagen Group and SEAT, S.A. with the objectives of guiding the electrification of the automotive industry in Spain and turning the country into a hub for electric mobility in Europe. This initiative, involving the largest business grouping in the automotive sector in Spain and proposing a record industrial investment of 10 billion euros, has been one of SEAT, S.A.'s strategic priorities over the past two years.

In December 2022, the final resolution of the PERTE was announced, approving the following projects:

  • Development of a new powertrain and advanced dynamics systems for electric and connected vehicles (PP36).
  • Development of new lighting systems for a new family of electric and connected vehicles (PP37).
  • New developments for onboard networks and their integration into the ecosystem of electric vehicle components (PP38).
  • Development of new infotainment systems for integration into advanced interiors for electric vehicles (PP39).
  • New safety systems and advanced electronics for connected electric vehicles (PP40).
  • Development and validation of new technologies for fully prototyped connected electric vehicles (PP41).

  • New developments of mobility as a service within the VEC ecosystem (Giravolta) (PP43).
  • Sunbatt Evo: research and development of a static energy storage system with second-life batteries (PP45).
  • Identification and implementation of energy efficiency measures throughout the new production processes for the manufacturing of electric and connected vehicles (PP47).
  • Design, development, and execution of the Cross-Training Plan for the new generation of two- and four-wheel electric and connected vehicles (PP75).
  • Design, development, and industrialization of a new generation of two- and four-wheel electric and connected vehicles (PP76).
  • RELOAD: research into different recycling, ecodesign, and industry 4.0 technologies to recover high-value metals present in electronic components, lithium-ion batteries, and electric motors at the end of the VEC's life cycle (PP80).

GENERALITAT:

On the other hand, the Generalitat of Catalonia issued its final resolution for a direct subsidy grant to SEAT, S.A.:

  • Case file SED109: Development of the Future: Fast Forward project (F3).

MITMA:

Additionally, with the aim of contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, on December 15, 2022, the resolution for the first call for subsidies under the Sustainable and Digital Transport Support Program was published, under competitive bidding, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan – financed by the European Union – Next Generation EU:
