Activating SEAT CONNECT Private Mode

Using the SEAT CONNECT Private Mode settings inside the infotainment system, the customer will be able to deactivate data traffic for every service that is available in the My SEAT App. This will give different users of the same vehicle the choice of whether to give information about the data usage and visibility to our SEAT CONNECT services individually.

The settings give you the ability to choose between 4 different privacy levels:

·    Share my position

·    Use my position

·    No location

·    Maximum privacy

The default mode that is configured in the vehicle is maximum privacy. This means that all services will be turned off, except the legally required ones (public emergency calls).

This will give you the flexibility to use different grades of data sharing and usage of data traffic services, depending on your preferences.

Also, the feature for data sharing customisation will allow users to have privacy while using the vehicle of another person. Users need to know that this service follows the EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

The different privacy levels bring a variety of options with them and will change the level of sharing, depending on what option you choose. Here’s a closer look:

1.    Share my position: This will allow the vehicle services to share the vehicle’s position and track the vehicle. All services are switched on and location data is shared.

2.    Use my position: This allows the vehicle to share the user and location data. All services that forward the vehicle location to the front end in the My SEAT App are switched off.

3.    No position data: This setting allows the vehicle to share the user’s account and vehicle data anonymously. All services are enabled, excluding those that send a vehicle position, meaning that nobody else will be able to see the vehicle’s specific data and VIN.

4.    Maximum privacy: All services are turned off, except for those services that are legally required, such as emergency calls. This is done to avoid any unwanted data sharing and usage.

Once our services are activated, depending on the chosen privacy mode that is set up in the user navigation, there will be different services available to the user.

To use the full functionality and get the full user experience from our app and the functions we implement in it, we recommend using the Share My Position mode. Sharing location data will give you the full user experience and all of the functions will be available.

Different privacy levels will turn off different functions. For example, the no position data setting turns off customer care, static data upload, parking position, horn and turn signals, area alert, speed alert and almost all of the online infotainment functions.
