Nowadays, every system connected to the internet is receiving updates. Regardless of if its bug fixes, new features or polishing updates, they are really important for a service to stay competitive and up to date. Constant updates are important so that each and every SEAT customer receives quality service, content and experience. That’s why SEAT isn’t falling behind the competition.
The integrated data connection in SEAT vehicles ensures that they always receive the latest software updates and fixes. This is possible because of the SIM card that is inside of the vehicles themselves and the SEAT-provided data network. This is a part of the Onboard Connectivity Unit, also known as OCU.
The network connection that is implemented into SEAT vehicles allows the customer to communicate with it online. This also means that users are going to have direct access to communications with SEAT call centres.
Customers can use the communication channels to get in touch with a representative so they can advise the manufacturer of any bugs or issues that they saw while using the vehicle–or any of the services that come with it. SEAT will take immediate action to solve the issues in future patches and updates.
The software of SEAT vehicles is connected with the SEAT CONNECT system and services. This means that the users will receive constant online system updates. They can range from fixing different errors in the system, problems with the services or implementing new features.
The customer is in direct contact with the vehicle's Onboard Connectivity Unit (OCU). This allows them to receive constant information about the vehicle.
Transparency matters to SEAT, however, and the company takes every step to ensure that they’re fully transparent about their updates. Customers will be able to read up on any updates and innovations that are brought to their vehicle when they need to.
For the maximum convenience of the customer, the updates are installed while the vehicle is parked and customers are outside of their vehicle, especially as some functions may not be available during the updating process.
All new updates will be shown in the infotainment system under the notifications tab. The user can just click on it and download the update. After that, once they finish their trip, the vehicle will communicate online to receive the update while the driver goes about their day.
Bear in mind that for the vehicle to receive updates, it needs to be in one of the following modes: “Share My Position”, “Use My Position”, and “No Position Data”.
No updates will be sent to the system if the “Maximum Privacy” setting is chosen.
